Kids like this series. I thought it was better than most of the silly movies they watch. I’ve  actually sat and watched it twice now. Appeals to most ages - except for snotty 18 year olds who are too good to sit and watch a movie with their families now.

This show had my 7 year old squealing. She ‘collects’ all of the tiny ponys from game sets and such, and to see one of her favorites come to life just awestruck her.  Now, I couldn’t get anyone else to watch it with her, but she thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought it was cute, but I wouldn’t be able to sit through it ten times - like she has.

How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days

August 14th, 2009

how.jpg

The irresistibly funny romantic comedy HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS makes its move onto DVD and Blu-ray in an all-new Deluxe Edition arriving August 18, 2009 from Paramount Home Entertainment.  Pairing Matthew McConaughey (Tropic Thunder) and Kate Hudson (You, Me and Dupree) with delightful results, HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS is an uproarious battle of the sexes that appeals to both men and women.  While Andie (Hudson) needs to prove she can dump a guy in 10 days, Ben (McConaughey) is determined to show that he can win a girl in the same amount of time. The result is a wildly outrageous tale of sex, lies and romantic fireworks.

I actually liked this. Didn’t think I would, but it surprised me. I’m not a very ChicFlick type of person, but this movie was entertaining. Not all what I expected it to be.

What the hell is this mess? I only offered to review this one because I remember the kids being so into Dragonball Z when they were younger. But when THEY get up and LEAVE the room, it doesn’t bode well for the movie. I couldn’t even follow what was going on — it seemed to make no sense. I only remember a little from the series, but this was nothing like it.

———————————————————————–

What the hell was this? I felt just as mindscrewed after this one as I did after American  Beauty - and with good reason - Sam Mendes, the director. It all made sense when I saw that he directed both. As much as everyone loved AMerican Beauty, both MD and I were open-mouthed speechless at how ignorant it was. This one wasn’t quite as bad, but I still felt cheated at the end of the movie. ANd not just because of the ending, but because the whole movie felt like it was missing something. Maybe a plot. I thought this was supposed to be a reunion of the two lovebirds, but they did nothing but fight damn near the entire time. So much for seeing their chemistry again. Must see 3 times in a row my ass. Am I missing something?

This show ……  trying to think of something nice to say, but I’m coming up short. I didn’t really care for it. Acting was so-so, story was so-so, direction was so-so, music was yuck. Then again, these are my tastes. MD said it was ok, so he’s kinder than me. Older kids wouldn’t sit through it, and I’m glad, with as much skin as there was on the screen.

Another show that runs the risk of addiction. I really enjoyed Raising the Bar. I knew I would, as I’m a sucker for these types of shows, but I honestly wasn’t expecting it to be this good. I’ll definitely keep my eye out for season two.
